Item #: SCP-CN-2005

Object Class: Euclid
Note: SCP-CN-2005 is considered Safe-class in the absence of SCP-CN-2005-A.

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-CN-2005 is situated in Welkin-02. Access to that dimension is restricted to the project staff. Technologies that aim to search and enter parallel universes should be misdirected, suppressed, or partially extirpated on a case-by-case basis to prevent accidental discovery of (and potential damage to) SCP-CN-2005 outside of the research project.

Description: SCP-CN-2005 is a photonic supercomputer that has an unusually high computational capacity, which exceeds 10^40 FLOPS/sec per the initial evaluation.

SCP-CN-2005 is the product of the Moreality project. Moreality is a research project that aims to integrate the results of anomaly reverse-engineering to construct high-feature computers and run simulations of real-world physical systems on them. The ultimate goal of Moreality is to build a virtual image of the whole world.

As such, SCP-CN-2005 was optimally tuned to perform such tasks. It adopted a cellular automaton structure combined with data-flow techniques to enable simultaneous computation and input/output.

Specifically, SCP-CN-2005 is mainly composed of a 4-D lattice. This lattice contains a vast amount of lattice grids that serve as "building blocks" of the physical system it aims to simulate. The 4-D lattice can not only simulate the interaction of neighboring blocks in it, but also allows simulation of long-distance, indirect interactions. This enabled it to simulate large physical systems with high fidelity. An operating substrate intermeshes with the lattice to provide I/O for the whole system.

The "grain" size of SCP-CN-2005's simulation can range from subatomic lengths to several Astronomical Units, which can be dynamically adjusted by merging and splitting certain areas of its computing grids. When an area is merged, the data inside it will be averaged to the closest estimate. This effectively reduced the computation load of SCP-CN-2005 when used to simulate very large systems.

The artificial small pocket universe that hosts SCP-CN-2005 was created by the same kind of dimensional technology as the 4-D lattice, codename "Welkin". The first Welkin pocket universe, Welkin-01, collapsed shortly after creation; then a second universe was created, and a mass-energy balancer comprised of ectoentropic anomalies was installed in it. This one was stable thus far.

All Welkin universes initially contain no mass or energy, and layer upon baseline reality without actually interacting with it. On this basis, SCP-CN-2005 can obtain the live data of this reality through reading its lattice spread throughout Welkin-02, and run the analog image within itself. Through SCP-CN-2005's operating system, such data can be frozen, retrieved, modified, or run slower/faster without affecting the true reality.
